The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (Band II, Seite 393, Eintrag: NTB-630): NTB-630: This heavy naval bomber was developed by Incom and Subpro for the Old Republic during the Clone Wars. Similar in design to the PTB-625, the NTB-630 differed in its mission profile. Whereas the PTB-625 was designed for planetary bombardment, the NTB-630 was created to deliver its payloads while engaged in space battles. It was therefore more maneuverable than the PTB-625, allowing it to get close to capital ships and avoid their turbolasers as it executed its bombing runs.
The ARC-170 began as a heavier version of Incom/Subpro’s Z-95 Headhunter, beloved by pilots across the galaxy as a reliable, easily modified fighter. During the Clone Wars, the ARC-170s would be modified to produce a pair of heavier bombers, the PTB-625 and the NTB-630. In later years the ARC-170 would be succeeded by the T-65 X-wing, which sacrificed some of the ARC-170’s firepower in favor of regaining the Z-95’s agility. ==> The Essential Guide to Warfare (Seite 101)
The Venator- and Victory-class cruisers of the Clone Wars were originally designed to operate NTB-30 torpedo bombers alongside short-range A-6 interceptors, but their capacity was largely given over to snubfighters by the end of the conflict, and designers such as Vors Voorhorian and Walex Blissex spent the war years developing a new generation of X-wings and Y-wings designed to dogfight on equal terms with any starfighter in space. ==> The Essential Guide to Warfare (Seite 53) Zeitalter der Rebellion - Im Visier (Seite 51f.)
